How to Beat King Dodongo

Hit King Dodongo where it's weak: a bomb swallowed while he inhales. Watch for King Dodongo to rear back and suck in air. That's your cue: he's about to breathe fire.

The fight, step by step
Watch for King Dodongo to rear back and suck in air. That's your cue: he's about to breathe fire.
Toss a Bomb into his open mouth while he's inhaling. If you run short, pull a Bomb Flower instead.
If you miss, step sideways out of the flames. His fire burns a Deku Shield, so bring the Hylian Shield.
When the bomb goes off inside him, he collapses. Rush to his head and slash it, or jump-attack with a Deku Stick for extra damage.
After recovering, he curls into a ball and rolls around the arena. Tuck into a corner or crouch behind your shield until he stops.
Repeat the bomb-and-slash cycle. It takes a few rounds, fewer if you hit him with Deku Sticks.
New in the remake: the Hall of Fallen Foes keeps a statue of every enemy you defeat, and lets you rematch some bosses.
